Nicoles Story

Another great story from Nicole to wrap up this year. I still have a few more of these but I would love to receive more! Write up a summary of the past year and send it my way please!

Nicole is one of the ladies that help liven up 6am…She has a crew and if you get them all together it’s trouble. Her desire to be better and her “just tell me what to do be better and I’ll do it” attitude makes her a real treat to coach…now if only she could finish building that cabin so we can have her back on Saturday mornings…

Hi guys,

The other day I had dreamt up the best alarm clock sound ever… the clang & bang of barbells:  Best . Morning . Sound . EVER!  The sound would get me up & out of bed without hesitation!

I started CrossFit on June 14th, 2010.  I fell in love immediately!  Of course I made gains for a while & they kept me wanting more, following the group programming I certainly got better, stronger and faster… but after 2 years I became frustrated the gains were sparse and it seemed that no matter how much ‘extra work’ I did I wasn’t getting anywhere.   Seriously, not a pull-up in sight!

Insert Brendan here!

It all started with Brendan programming strength work for me to do, my routine moved from the Box I was at to my basement gym.  Under Brendan’s direction after his careful analysis of my abilities and capabilities I quickly saw gains again (pull-ups, dips, and strength I didn’t know I even had in me) and learned that there is ALWAYS a method to his madness and to trust what he’s programming… it’s GOING to work!

When I heard of Sublime’s opening it was a no-brainer, I’m there!  Yes, I drive from Ile Des Chenes every morning, it’s worth it!   It’s worth it to have programming that is going to work, and it’s most worth it to have coaches that truly care.  The Sublime coaches exude a passion that you just can’t find anywhere, they TRULY want the best for each one of us and most importantly know that each one of us is different!

I’ve learned more from Kyle coaching our 6am classes since Sublime opened 9 months ago than I had in the 30 months ‘CrossFitting’ prior to that.  Whether it’s technique, positioning, breathing or even my mindset and how I approach my training I continue to learn from Kyle.  I’ve learned of countless little anomalies that I may have been doing or not doing in my lifts that by implementing his advice I see immediate gains.  ….thanks Kyle!   I won’t even begin to mention what the gains are that I’ve made since starting at Sublime, I’ll just go with “everything”!   Rx’ing a workout is no longer a question.  Kipping pullups, yup.  Toes-to-bar, got ‘em.  Heavy lifts, will do.  The CrossFit girls, I’m in!

Kyle and the other Sublime coaches do SO MUCH more than coach a group class; they facilitate our individual gains.  THAT is what makes Sublime worth the drive from Ile Des Chenes, the coaches!

I see it every week, I see people that started out at Sublime less than a year ago hitting lifts and reaching points in their training that took me 2+ years (prior to my Sublime days) to achieve.  Are they stronger than me?  No.  Do they do a tonne of additional work to get there?  No.  They have amazing coaches and trust the programming, because IT WORKS!

Thanks guys for everything you do & sharing it with all of us @ Sublime!
